This is a colorful and exciting story about a group of homosexual indigenous and mestizos from Juchitán, Oaxaca, who defend their diversity and preserve their identity as zapotecas (one of the indigenous groups of the State). The "Muxe" community is confronted with acceptation and rejection, with a party and lonesomeness, with love and incomprehension for a groundbreaking attitude and an intense celebration of life.

SEXUALITY
Muxe's: auténticas, intrépidas buscadoras del peligro is part of the block SEXUALITY. The selection made for this block is as complex and challenging as the processes around sexuality themselves. Surprising, conflicting, even hazardous, these films give a glimpse into present-day life in Mexico. Related to this block is the debate Hard Sex: the development of sexuality and violence in Mexico and Mexican cinema at the University of Amsterdam.
